How the FIBR score works: five measurements, one number
A single score out of 100 is only trustworthy if you can see how it is built. The exact weights, why Frizz is inverted, and why the score compares you to yourself.
Composite scores earn distrust when they hide their recipe. Ours fits in a sentence, so here is the sentence: the FIBR score is a weighted average of five optical measurements, each normalised so that 100 is always better, compared against your own first scan.
The exact recipe
Shine contributes 22 percent, Thickness 22, Frizz 20, Surface 20, Color 16. The weights sum to one and they are public, on the site and in the app, because a score you cannot audit is an opinion with a number attached.
Frizz is the one inverted input: the raw count is flipped so that lower frizz produces a higher contribution. Everything then points the same way, and the composite means one thing: higher is better, for you, relative to your own baseline.
Why these weights? Shine and thickness carry the most because one is the strongest visual signal and the other is the most stable structural one. Frizz and surface follow as the fast movers that respond to routine. Color takes the remainder: it matters, but it partly tracks choices, dye among them, that are aesthetic rather than structural.
What the score is for, and what it is not
The score exists to make a trend readable at a glance. Five separate curves are precise but slow to parse; one number moving from 64 to 71 over six weeks is legible instantly, and the five components stay one tap away when you want to know which pillar moved it.
What it is not: a diagnosis, a comparison against other people, or a beauty grade. Two people with different hair types will sit at different absolute levels forever, and that is fine. The question the score answers is not 'is my hair better than average'. It is 'is my hair better than it was', which is the only version of the question a routine can actually act on.
